We have had a great 2 weeks practicing adding number combinations up to 10. We used chips, bead sliders, cubes, dice, dominoes, and iPads to help us practice adding this week. We are going to move on to subtraction next week.
We have continued reading and working on short vowel families and CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) words during Reading. I am so excited that everyone's reading level is increasing too. I will send an updated DRA (Reading Level) home before the end of the school year so you can continue reading "Just Right" books at home too.
We are working on writing like 1st Graders by having 3 sentences about one topic. Please encourage your child to write multiple sentences at home too.
We have had lots of fun learning and the day and night sky in Science. We will compare changes in the day and night sky next week. We also celebrated Earth Day on Wednesday and discussed ways we can help our Earth with some tips from The Lorax. I hope your family had fun eating "Truffula Seeds" and discussing ways you can all help our Earth.
We are very busy right now assessing students in Reading, Math, and Writing this week. I am so proud of everyone's progress and how much they have improved this year! Thank you all for your support and help this year.
Next Week's Themes: Writing 3 Sentences, Guided Reading, Subtraction, Changes in the Day and Night Sky
Popcorn Words: ate, well, ride
