What a fun and busy week we had! We finished up a lot of assessments in Reading, Writing, and Math this week (report cards go home the last day of school). I am so proud of all the students and am amazed by all their growth and progress this year!
We loved going to the Science Lab with Mrs. Travers and learning about the beach and summer safety. The students explored seashells, made boats and experimented with sinking/floating & blowing air in the sails, and also made a sun safety bracelet. Thank you to all the parents that volunteered to make this activity so much fun! Check out pictures in the May Photo Gallery.
We continued learning about Addition and Subtraction this week in Math. We also learned about Economics in Social Studies. We discussed Needs and Wants, Goods and Services, Saving & Spending, and Jobs and Income.
We loved finishing off the week on Friday with Field Day! The Opening Ceremonies were amazing! The Kindergarteners all signed a banner that said "Kindergarten Rocks" and all the students K-5 sang "Let the Games Begin" to begin the day. We had so much fun visiting all the different stations! A big big THANK YOU to all the parents that volunteered to make this day so much fun! I took lots of pictures so check them out in the May Photo Gallery.
Next Week's Themes: Patriotic Holidays, End of Kindergarten Activities, Addition, Subtraction & Graphing, & End of the Year Party
No more Popcorn Words: Please continue to practice popcorn words all summer long so your child can show off all they know when they get to 1st Grade!
We will visit the 1st Grade classes next week so your child can meet all the teachers and walk through the classrooms. They will see many things that are the same as Kindergarten as well as new exciting things that are different. They are officially Pre-1st Graders now!
We will have autograph day on Wednesday, May 21st. If your child purchased a Year Book, they can bring it on this day. If you did not purchase a yearbook, we have autograph books for them to sign. They can also bring or wear their Yellow SAE shirt to have signed (they did not finish this on Field Day).
We will not be eating in the cafeteria on Wednesday, May 21st because of the 5th Grade Dance. Please do plan to eat lunch with your child on this day as the whole school will be eating in their classrooms. We will also have a summer birthday picnic on this day!
Friday, May 23rd, we will have our End of the Year Patriotic Party from 12:00-1:00! Please check your email for sign-ups from the Room Moms. Everyone is invited so we hope to see you there! Please wear Red, White & Blue to show your Patriotic Pride!
End of Year Reminders:
~If your child has medication in the clinic, please come by and pick it up before the end of the school year.
~There is no charging permitted in the cafeteria if your child is buying lunch next week.
~All items from school (including rest blankets) will be brought home by Thursday.
~Nothing should be brought to school on the last day (Friday), including backpacks. Please send your child’s lunch in a disposable lunch bag on this day as well.
